God is more concerned about what we are than what we can do. He is actively at work in our lives and His purpose is to change us from the inside out. In Galatians chapter five He lists the fruit that He is working to produce in each one of our lives.
One of those important qualities on that list is faith. It is better translated “faithfulness.” – “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful” (1 Corinthians 4:2). In every area of our lives – especially those little areas that few people know about – faithfulness is required.
Jesus said, “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much” (Luke 16:10).
Pay attention to the little things – the insignificant things – because they are the doorway to greater things.
There are two dimensions to this. First there is an earthly dimension.
How faithful have you been in things like paying your bills on time, keeping promises you’ve made to your spouse and children and others? Our faithfulness in even the little things of this life can earn us the reputation of a “good name.” Proverbs 22:1 says, “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.”

But there is also a heavenly dimension. How we faithfully fulfill our responsibilities in this life will be echoed in eternity.
Jesus tells the Parable of the Talents to illustrate the significance of this truth. The master commends his servant – not for his abilities – but for his faithfulness. “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord” (Matthew 25:21).
Not every Christian will hear that “Well done…” from our Lord. It is conditional upon our faithfulness.
